The Independent Electricity System Operator has announced a new regional planning cycle for the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph (KWCG) region.
The first cycle of regional planning for the region began in 2010 and was completed in April 2015 with the release of an Integrated Regional Resource Plan (IRRP). The next IRRP for the region is anticipated to be completed in Q1 2021.
The engagement initiative will provide interested parties with an opportunity to offer input for consideration into the development of the IRRP. Interested parties include but are not limited to:
• Municipalities of Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph, as well as portions of Perth, Oxford and Wellington counties and the townships of Wellesley, Woolwich, Wilmot, North Dumfries, and the Region of Waterloo
• Indigenous communities including the Grand River Métis Council, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the New Credit
• Local distribution companies (LDCs) that serve the community including Alectra Utilities (Guelph), Energy+, Halton Hills Hydro, Kitchener-Wilmot Hydro, Waterloo North Hydro, Centre Wellington Hydro, Wellington North Power, Milton Hydro and Halton Hills Hydro
• Transmitters
• Consumers and service providers for the area
• All interested parties are invited to participate in this engagement initiative.
