The IESO is proposing to update performance requirements for generation and electricity storage units connecting directly to the IESO-controlled grid (Market Rule Chapter 4, Appendix 4.2 and 4.3). An overview of the draft changes was presented and discussed at the July 23 Energy Storage Advisory Group webinar.
Meeting materials are posted on the ESAG webpage. The draft amendments were expected to be posted on the same page in the next few days. The IESO is seeking stakeholder input on this early draft to help direct these potential Market Rule amendments.
In addition, at its June 25 meeting, the Technical Panel recommended the approval of a proposed market rule amendment to the disputes resolution process. This proposed amendment – an outcome of the IESO Governance and Decision-Making Advisory Group report that examined ways to improve IESO processes – would provide more flexibility for parties in a dispute to select mediators or arbitrators that are not members of the Dispute Resolution Panel. If passed, the effective date of this amendment would be October 15, 2019. The IESO Board will discuss this proposal at its August 28 meeting.
