The Board of Directors of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) announced that it has appointed the Honourable Joe Oliver as the new Chair of the Board of the IESO.
Mr. Oliver has served as a Federal Minister of Finance, Minister of Natural Resources and Member of Parliament. He is a past president and CEO of Investment Dealers Association, former executive director of the Ontario Securities Commission and a director of investment banking operations of several major Canadian investment dealers.
“I am pleased to assume this leadership position for the IESO at a time when it can play a critical role in making electricity more affordable for Ontarians,” said Mr. Oliver. “Joe’s senior level energy experience will serve the IESO well as we work with stakeholders across the province during this period of unprecedented change in the Ontario electricity sector,” said IESO President and CEO Peter Gregg.
The Board also welcomed Simon Chapelle as a new Director. Mr. Chapelle was elected as a Kingston City Councillor in last fall’s municipal elections and has previously served on both the Kingston Hydro and Sudbury Hydro boards.
