Northland Power exploring for offshore wind in Korea

Seoul: Northland Power has announced an alliance with KEPCO E&C, a power plant design and engineering company involved in a major offshore wind farm project off the southern resort island of Jeju.

          Under a Memorandum of Understanding, the two companies will co-operate in the development and operation of offshore wind power projects through the exchange of business information and data, licensing and technical support, the development of co-operative projects, and joint investment.

          KEPCO E&C is a contractor in a 500 billion won (C$591 million) project to build a 100 MW offshore wind power cluster off the coastal town of Hanlim in Jeju. KEPCO controls 29 percent in a special purpose company and KEPCO E&C owns five percent.
