Ontario’s Minister of Education, Mitzie Hunter, announced an investment January 12 of $200 million, proceeds from the province’s carbon market, to be directed to school boards across the province to improve energy efficiency in the province’s schools.
The funding is part of a total $1.4 billion investment this year to improve school buildings by repairing and upgrading all elements such as roofs, flooring and plumbing systems.
The disbursement was originally announced June 13, listing 72 school boards receiving funding from the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, totalling $200 million. Figures range from $57,560 (CSD catholique des Aurores boréales) to $50,218,470 (Toronto DSB).
