The IESO has launched Powering Tomorrow, a new section on its website devoted to innovation in Ontario’s electricity sector. The agency explains the need for the service: “the electricity sector is in the midst of change. Consumers and communities are playing a larger role than ever before through the convergence of rapid advancements in technology, climate change policies, intelligent metering and evolving conservation and demand management opportunities.”
The IESO notes that “Powering Tomorrow looks at how Ontario’s electricity sector is innovating and showcases what the IESO and others are doing to both enable it as well as to prepare for and respond to future advancements.” It focuses on four core themes: technology, research, efficiency, and data.
To launch the new section, the IESO has produced a video in which CEO Peter Gregg and Terry Young, Vice-President of Policy, Innovation and Engagement, address some of the major drivers of change in the sector and the work the IESO is doing to enable innovation.
