New website reveals cost of cap and trade

A new website, Cap & Trade Transparency (http://capntradetransparency.com/) allows Ontario consumers to calculate some of the amounts that they will likely be paying for the Cap and Trade program. The Ontario Energy Board recently rejected proposals that would have mandated separate line items on energy bills reflecting the direct costs of the cap and trade program.

By entering their postal code and fuel consumption figures, consumers can use the website to estimate the cost of cap and trade on their costs for natural gas and motor fuel. It does not estimate the impact on electricity bills.

The online service was produced by Energy Vantage, a Toronto-based consulting firm specialized in “supporting transformational energy change and solutions.”
