IESO releases Ontario Planning Outlook

On September 1, the Independent Electricity System Operator released the Ontario Planning Outlook, a technical report that provides a 10-year review (2005-2015) and a 20-year outlook (2016-2035) for Ontario’s electricity system. The report examines how conservation and other low carbon resources can serve to maintain reliable and efficient operations over a range of possible demand outlooks. It also examines the emissions and cost profiles of those outlooks. The report was produced in response to a June 2016 letter from the Minister of Energy.

The Ontario Planning Outlook provides planning context for policy makers and industry stakeholders and serves as an early input into the Ministry of Energy’s Long-Term Energy Plan (LTEP) consultation process.

Readers may visit the IESO website to view the Ontario Planning Outlook report, consolidated figures and accompanying data modules.
