As part of its ongoing efforts to help manage minor variations in generation and demand as well as encourage new entrants to Ontario’s energy markets, the IESO is planning to issue a Request for Information (RFI) for additional frequency regulation service later this year. The RFI will be open to incumbent and new respondents, including prospective parties outside of Ontario (if any) and is expected to set the stage for one of the most significant expansions of the regulation market since market opening. The IESO has published sample regulation data that will allow prospective entrants into the market to analyze the data and test it on their various technologies.
