IESO appoints new Chair

Toronto: The Board of Directors of Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator announced July 24 that Tim O’Neill has been appointed its new Chair. He replaces Jim Hinds, who has recently stepped down from his position on the IESO Board.

In addition, Carole Workman has been appointed as a new Board member for the IESO. Ms. Workman was previously (since April 2014) a member of the Board of Directors for Hydro One, where she sat on the Audit, Finance and Pension Investment Committee and the Regulatory and Public Policy Committee.

“Tim and Carole are proven leaders,” said Energy Minister Bob Chiarelli. “As a new Chair and a new Director, they will make strong contributions to a Board that plays an essential role in managing the province’s power system, ensuring that Ontarians receive power when and where they need it. Their leadership and efforts will help us deliver on the government’s priority of providing clean, reliable and affordable power.”
Dr. O’Neill was previously Vice-Chair of the IESO Board of Directors. He served as the Chair of the Board for the former IESO organization, from December 8, 2010, to December 31, 2014, before it merged with the Ontario Power Authority at the beginning of this year.

Ms. Workman is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She is the Chair of the Ottawa Hospital Board of Directors, a position she has held since 2011, and was appointed a director of the Ottawa Hospital Board in 2007. She is also a member of the Board of Allstate Insurance of Canada. Her previous experience includes the board of directors of Hydro Ottawa.
