National initiative highlights lessons from community energy plans across Canada

Wolfville, Nova Scotia: The Community Energy Association, QUEST – Quality Urban Energy Systems of Tomorrow, and Sustainable Prosperity as partners in the Community Energy Planning – Getting to Implementation in Canada (GTI) Initiative, kicked off a workshop series on May 14, engaging community energy leaders from across Canada.

          Community Energy Planning – Getting to Implementation in Canada (GTI) is a multi-year national initiative that is empowering communities to take a leading role on energy, including innovative energy projects such as renewable electricity, district energy, biomass, landfill gas capture, clean transportation, electric vehicles and others. Engaging with local and provincial / territorial governments, elected officials, utilities, real estate developers, academic institutions, agencies and community organizations, the workshops will foster collaboration and facilitate the sharing of expertise as they inform the development of a national Community Energy Implementation Framework.
