Each hour, the IESO reports on all generating units with capabilities over 20 MW that are injecting energy to the IESO-controlled transmission grid. These reports are available at: http://www.ieso.ca/imoweb/marketdata/genEnergy.asp .
In Ontario, the Real-Time Generation Cost Guarantee is also referred to as Spare Generation On-Line. To understand more, see the IESO training document ‘Real-Time Generation Cost Guarantee’: http://www.ieso.ca/imoweb/pubs/training/QT9_SGOL.pdf
Last year, the IESO developed a new online educational tool, “The Ontario Smart Grid” that puts users at the helm of Ontario’s power grid – a few years from now. By following a day in the life of the grid, users can see how their energy choices can contribute to a more sustainable electricity system. It is available at http://www.ieso.ca/ontariosmartgrid/ . This interactive tool was recently nominated for an award by the Association for Demand Response and Smart Grid.
