On May 21, a new company-wide data system went into service at Hydro One, offering a slew of conveniences for customers. The new Customer Information System (CIS) will allow customers to view their bills on line and to access a range of data about their electricity usage.
Hydro One’s business customers, including generators, will have access to an even wider array of data services through a new CIS-connected website designed to help business electricity users manage their energy activities. The website provides a long-term storage for historical meter data, easy access to detailed generation data, analysis and reporting tools.
The company cites the following as key benefits of the system:
• Better Reporting Functionality: Generators can set-up daily, weekly, or monthly reports, customized with their preferences. Generators can also arrange to have reports emailed to them automatically.
• Unlimited reporting views: The new portal allows generators to view and download many days of meter data at a time.
• New and improved generation statements: these display payment date, previous balance, OPA Contract # (if applicable) and adjustment amount(s).
• New statement delivery system: Generator statements are posted online to the Hydro One My Account Website and password protected. Once the statement is ready, Generator Customers receive an email statement notification with a hyperlink to the secure Hydro One “My Account” website.
All of the above is available through the new Hydro One Business Customer Portal: (http://www.businesscustomer.hydroone.com). The portal will allow the user to choose from four different types of reporting:
• Load Analysis
• Usage and Variance Analysis
• Trending, and
• Energy Benchmarking.
The Load Analysis features Summary Statistics, a Load Profile chart and table, an Average Hourly Consumption chart, and a Load Duration chart and table.
Customers may use the Load Analysis report to:
• Better understand the meter load
• Identify peak loads, and
• View monthly and seasonal load variations.
Customers may use the Usage and Variance Analysis to:
• Track energy consumption over time — by the hour, the day, the week, the month or by the year
• Identify irregularities in energy usage from day-to-day, week-to-week etc.
• Compare energy usage for different time periods
• Analyze increases or decreases in energy usage for one or more meters
• Display maximum, minimum and average demand related to a single meter or consumption of a group of meters, and
• Normalize usage data by area, weather or production units for standard comparison.
Customers may use the Trending Report to:
• Visualize facility loads or energy consumption over time
• Check out any meter channel interested for a single meter selection
• Produce different versions of data for a single meter channel selected
• Compare values and trends for multiple meters on the same graph, and
• View different versions of data collected, estimated or edited.
Customers may use an Energy Benchmarking to:
• Rank facility energy usage or demand
• Identify best and worst performers, normalized by area, weather or production, and
• Compare energy usage for different commodities in common units.
This new website replaces MV-Web after May 21. If you’re already an MV-Web user, your current username and password will work on the new Hydro One Business Portal.
