The IESO Board of Directors has appointed Bruce Campbell as the new President and CEO of the IESO effective May 1, 2013. Bruce will replace Paul Murphy, who earlier this year announced his intention to retire at the end of April.
“Bruce has extensive experience in a number of aspects of the electricity sector and has been a strong advocate for the IESO with government and stakeholders on a broad range of issues and opportunities,” said IESO Chair Tim O’Neill. “Over the last few years, he has shaped the efforts needed to integrate the province’s renewable forms of generation and helped place the IESO in the position it is in today – ready to manage the new supply mix, reliably and efficiently.”
A member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Bruce graduated from the Osgoode Hall Law School. He joined the IESO in 2000 as Vice President, Corporate and Legal Affairs and later served as Vice President, Corporate Relations and Market Development. He is Vice-Chair of the Board and member of the Audit Committee, of the Northeast Power Coordinating Council, Inc. (NPCC) and is the IESO’s representative on the Stakeholder Advisory Committee.
“On behalf of the Board, I would also again like to thank Paul Murphy for his extraordinary efforts in leading the IESO over the past six and a half years,” said O’Neill. “The IESO and the broader electricity sector has benefited greatly from his leadership.”
