On July 11 the Ontario Power Authority posted a Request for Quotation for an experienced “Fairness Monitor” to oversee the evaluation of proposals for funding received by the OPA’s Aboriginal Transmission Fund (ATF).
The ATF, which is presently under development, dates from a Ministerial Directive by then-Minister Brad Duguid, dated August 25 2011, instructing the OPA to "provide funding support to Aboriginal communities that are exploring equity positions in future, planned major transmission lines in Ontario where OPA has identified a need for transmission capacity. Funding preference for this initiative should be given to Aboriginal communities where these lines cross a community's traditional territory."
Funding is capped at $500,000 per line, with funds to come from within existing funding levels for the Aboriginal Energy Partnerships Program (AEPP).
The deadline for the submissions of quotations was set at August 6. IPPSO FACTO will report on developments as they become available.
