On May 9, the Ontario Power Authority announced that it was beginning consultations to update Ontario’s Integrated Power System Plan (IPSP). Consultation sessions for those with an interest in the electricity sector began with a web-enabled teleconference on May 17. The session provided an introduction to the IPSP process and an overview of the IPSP Planning and Consultation Overview document.
The consultation sessions were intended to collect input and advice on the IPSP and to ensure the views of stakeholders and others are considered in the development of the updated IPSP.
The OPA will also be scheduling additional sessions with First Nation and Métis communities in the development of the IPSP. More information will be provided directly to Aboriginal communities. Once the consultation process is complete, the OPA will submit a revised IPSP to the Ontario Energy Board, where it will be subject to a formal regulatory review later this year.
The overview document is available on the OPA website at the following link: http://www.powerauthority.on.ca/process.
