Ontario’s Clean Energy Mission to China

Toronto: Trade officials from Ontario, Canada and China are organizing the first Clean Energy Mission to China this coming June 20 - July 1. The mission starts with an exposition in Beijing which many of the participants will use as an opportunity to showcase their products and services to Chinese buyers. Following the exposition, the mission includes visits and numerous opportunities to meet potential business contacts in Nanjing, Shanghai, and Taipei. Officials will be organizing a range of seminars, visits and meetings in these additional cities, to extend the exposure available to Ontario companies.

The Chinese market represents sizable business opportunities for Canadian companies, as reported in the February edition of IPPSO FACTO. (Chinese enterprise welcomed as it sets up a second home in Canada ) In 2010, China invested $54.4 billion in clean energy, more than even the US or Germany. China's 12th Five Year Plan (2011-2015) has a clear focus on building clean energy and is expected to continue the development of new resources like wind, solar, bio and nuclear. It will also encompass resource usage technologies like clean coal technology, the smart grid, and even non-conventional gas resources like coalbed methane and natural gas hydrocarbons.

The mission includes an opportunity to exhibit at the Clean Energy Expo China 2011 (June 22-24, 2011 in Beijing), the only industry event to showcase the entire clean energy portfolio in China, and visits to key “clean energy clusters.” China Power 2011, a high level conference held concurrently with Clean Energy Expo China 2011, is also on the agenda for mission participants.
