HR leadership celebrated

Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) celebrated innovation and leadership in human resources best practices across Canada’s electricity sector with its annual Awards of Excellence on February 19, 2020 in Toronto. The event brings together industry stakeholders, labour, education, corporate and government partners to recognize teams and individuals making a difference in their organizations through people management.

Michelle Branigan, CEO, EHRC; Lisa Nadeau; Kathy Lerette, Senior Vice President of Business Transformation at Alectra Utilities The Leader of the Year award was presented to Lisa Nadeau, Vice President, Human Resources at the Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO). EHRC cited her “visionary leadership and commitment to a people-first approach,” saying that “Over her career at AESO, Lisa has fostered a culture of responsiveness and adaptability to change at the company and is a genuine and considerate leader who inspires her colleagues to embrace the future.”

          Also acknowledged was Algonquin College, “We Saved You A Seat” Program for Innovation in HR Practices – Educational/Training Institution. Hydro One received an award for workplace diversity and inclusion, and Bruce Power received an award for Innovation in HR practices.

          Electricity Human Resources Canada’s latest report, Work Transformed, was launched at the annual event Awards of Excellence on February 19, 2020 in Toronto. The latest Labour Market Intelligence report investigates the impact of technological innovation on the Canadian electricity sector workforce, finding that very few employers have a training plan in place to adapt their workforce’s skills to new requirements and needs.
