“Personally, I feel this year’s candidate is particularly deserving in light of the various issues and initiatives that the power industry is currently facing including: cost pressures, market evolution and renewal, and ongoing review of procurement alternatives for new supply and existing supply post initial contract term.” Mr. Patterson stressed that Mr. Chee-Aloy “has been instrumental in the development of procurement programs that have secured a significant portion of the clean and efficient supply mix that the province currently relies on today and will so into the future.” He went further, observing that Mr. Chee-Aloy has “a proven track record as a thought leader in the industry and is a significant contributor to events such as the APPrO conference in bringing focus to the issues of concern and presenting expert opinions on options to consider as we move forward to advance the energy agenda.”
Mr. Chee-Aloy accepted the award with grace and humour, sharing a few thoughts on what it meant for him. He reflected on how past recipients of the Hedley Palmer award had influenced him, and how he learned from individuals and experiences that continue to impact his work and profession over the years.
