The Canadian Energy and Emissions Data Centre (CEEDC), a centre for analysis and study of energy use in Canada, is considering updating its cogeneration database. Brad Griffin, the CEEDC’s Executive Director, recently presented information from its public database that catalogues known Canadian facilities using cogeneration, including their capacities, energy production, and fuel types. For those interested, the majority (over 70%) of installed cogeneration capacity is in just a few sectors: utilities, pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, manufacturing, and chemicals production.
The Centre notes that several groups (NRCan, QUEST Canada, and industry associations) have expressed interest in trying to get more up to date information on the state of this technology across Canada. The last major update was in 2015. Interested readers are invited to get in touch by email:
