Saskatchewan joins western states in carbon capture

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall announced December 1 that the province would be joining the governors of Montana, North Dakota and Wyoming in signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS).

The three-year agreement will encourage information sharing on capture, transportation and storage of carbon dioxide, and applications such as enhanced oil recovery. Wall pointed to the province’s Boundary Dam 3 project, which he said captured 85,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide in October.
