Women in Renewable Energy (WiRE) recently announced that it is accepting nominations for its 2016 Woman of the Year Award. The WiRE Woman of the Year Award will recognize a Canadian woman in the energy sector “who has served the industry with distinction, gone above and beyond the call of duty, and contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of the power sector.” The WiRE Award will be presented by WiRE Founders and Co-Chairs Joanna Osawe and Rebecca Black on November 15th, 2016 as part of the annual Canadian Power Banquet, during the Association of Power Producers of Ontario’s 28th Annual Canadian Power Conference and Networking Centre.
Nomination Criteria:
The nominee must stand out as a leader who has contributed significantly to the expansion and improvement of the renewable energy field. This may be demonstrated by the nominee through excellence in areas such as:
o Leadership
o Policy and advocacy
o Technical advancement / Research and development
o Project development
o Community engagement and increased adoption of renewable energy technologies
o Being a role model contributing to the advancement of women in the sector
o Volunteering
The nominee must be a woman working in Canada.
Emphasis will be placed on excellence in the private sector. In order to recognize the invaluable contributions made by women in the non-profit, public, and volunteer sectors, a new award will be announced later this year.
