Ottawa: A report released by Canadian Clean Energy Conferences March 15 focuses on the competitive bids for new renewables generation coming from Alberta and Saskatchewan. Alberta's system operator, AESO, and Saskatchewan's crown-owned utility, SaskPower, are currently preparing renewables procurement plans to meet their new renewable energy targets for 2030 and are expected to open competitive bids this year.
The report, "New Renewable Energy Opportunities in Alberta and Saskatchewan," looks at the timeline, structures and financing landscape for new renewables projects in these provinces and summarizes key questions for lenders and developers looking to participate in Alberta's more complex merchant market. It offers insight from the Government of Alberta and SaskPower, as well as, informed views from leading renewable energy lenders, developers, advisors, and suppliers.
