New Bahrain office towers incorporate wind power

Calling it the first time anywhere in the world that a commercial development has integrated large-scale wind turbines within its design, the Bahrain World Trade Center completed the successful installation of the blades of its three wind turbines. Once operational, the three turbines are expected to deliver 11-15% of the BWTC tower’s energy needs, or 1100 to 1300 MWh per year.

The center’s two 50-storey sail-shaped twin office towers are designed to funnel the prevailing on-shore Gulf breeze into the path of the turbines, increasing their output.
