CC plant sets new efficiency record

Photo: GE Energy The Nishi Nagoya natural gas-fired combined cycle facility in Japan owns the world record for overall efficiency in an operating plant, at 63.08%, according to an October 1 story in Power Magazine. The plant uses GE’s 60-Hz 7HA gas turbine.

          The facility, with an output today of 2,376 MW, began its current life as a conversion from an oil-fired plant dating from 1970.
