GE announced the launch March 7 of a new energy storage platform, the GE Reservoir, based on a 1.2 MW, 4 MWh modular unit the size of a shipping container. GE claims the control system will extend battery life by up to 15 % and reduce fault currents by up to 5 times. The platform is suitable for AC- or DC-coupled systems.
The unit’s first order, for a 20 MW, 80 MWh project, is to be deployed late next year.
