Wind technology developer claims 120% additional power

Minneapolis: Wind technology developer SheerWind claims their innovative system can more than double the power output from a single installation, by funneling air flow from a single intake to three turbines.

In the December 5 announcement, their design integrates three turbines in series using a large funnel that captures, concentrates, and accelerates wind before delivering it to turbines located at ground level. The three turbines in a series in their INVELOX system together generate an additional 120% power compared to a single turbine.

The company claims a capacity factor of 60–90%, while multiple turbines in a single INVELOX tower means nearly zero operational downtime because maintenance can be done on one turbine while the others continue producing energy.
